CEIS assist with Knightswood Community Centre takeover

Posted in: Case Study.

Knightswood Community SCIO (KCSCIO) provides social, cultural, recreational, educational, and health and fitness services and facilities for the residents of Knightswood from Knightswood Community Centre, which was originally owned by Glasgow City Council and operated on its behalf by Glasgow Life. Supported by CEIS, KCSCIO embarked on the process of assuming full responsibility for the Centre from Glasgow Life, under GCC’s community asset transfer policy.

Involving expert input from a number of business advisers from CEIS’ Enterprise and Communities Team this support assisted KCSCIO to make the business case for the transfer, increased the organisation’s capacity to undertake these responsibilities, plan for the initial operation of the Centre and manage the transition process. Missives were concluded in April 2015 and formal transfer took place in September 2015.
