People to People Central Europe Inward Study Visit: 4-8th March 2019
To organise a 5-day study visit in Scotland for 24 representatives from Slovakia, Hungary and Czech Republic, highlighting community action and solutions to problems affecting disadvantaged and vulnerable communities in both urban and rural environs.
The aim of the visit, led by British Council, was to inform and facilitate the group, including mayors, academics, intermediaries, community leaders and social enterprise representatives, on how they could potentially work together to address social issues in their own countries.
CEIS Events provided full event management services including budget & financial management, programme development, supplier management, host liaison, interpreters, logistics, local travel, accommodation and meals.
A jam-packed programme of activities was organised, where the group:
- was provided with an overview of the Scottish social enterprise ecosystem;
- heard from and engaged with peers from local government, education, intermediaries, community leaders and social enterprise representatives on local challenges, in both urban and rural contexts, and how these issues were addressed at all levels;
- experienced diverse social enterprise and third sector products and services as part of the event supply chain;
- created an action-plan on initiatives and ways they could work together in their own countries
“Thank you for the opportunity, it was a great experience! It [study visit] was very useful in many ways: regarding the new knowledge about the Scottish structure, getting to know the Hungarian participants even better and having fruitful discussions”.
“Thank you for organising the tour. I’ve learned a lot and it fueled our passion and motivation to work on building the social enterprise sector in Hungary”.
