MSP Fergus Ewing launches new social enterprise, Highlands & Islands Business Finance

Posted in: News.

On 7 February 2014, MSP Fergus Ewing attended the launch of a new venture set up by Harry Wilson, Alan Sillars and James Dunbar. Highlands and Islands Business Finance (HIBF) is aimed at providing SME’s in the Highlands and Islands who have difficulty sourcing funding through mainstream sources with access to finance.

The launch held at the beautifully refurbished Kingsmill Hotel in Inverness was attended by over 50 representatives from the local community including bank managers, local business people, Business Gateway and other public and private businesses such as Inverness Chamber, Highland Council, Highland Opportunity & Highlands & Islands Enterprise, where they heard presentations from HIBF founders and from partner, DSL Business Finance who will provide loan capital and back office support to the new venture.

DSL have been providing support to individuals and businesses unable to access finance for over 20 years. Originally only a service available to the local community in Strathclyde, the demand for their services grew exponentially, resulting in them seeking and securing new partners, extending their support further afield in Scotland.
