Our Place initiative gets off to a blooming start

Posted in: News.

Our Place is a five year initiative taking place in seven neighbourhoods across Scotland. Funded by the Big Lottery Fund, this is an exciting and unique opportunity for the local community to work together to bring about a lasting, positive change in their neighbourhood.

CEIS is currently delivering asset-based community development work for the Our Place initiative in Lochside & Lincluden, Ardrossan and Falkirk on behalf of the Big Lottery Fund.

During months of community consultation with over 300 local residents, green space was identified as one of the best things about living in the Lochside & Lincluden area. To develop green space in the local area, CEIS worked with volunteers from local groups, organisations and schools to plant an Orchard of 150 fruit trees, which the whole community will have access to and benefit from.  ITV Borders spent the day with us too. Check out their coverage here.

Over the next 5 years, CEIS will continue to work with the local community and organisations.  If you would like to get involved or would like to find out further information on the Our Place initiatives in Lochside & Lincluden or Ardrossan, please contact Judith McVinnie, Development Consultant by email: Judith.McVinnie@ceis.org.uk or telephone: 0141 425 2929. You can also find out more via our Facebook page.
