The social enterprise sector has become a shining example of where business acumen and ethical trading merge to bring new opportunities to Scottish communities, so it was welcome news when in June 2014 we saw the re-launch of the Scottish Government’s highly successful Just Enterprise programme delivered by CEIS and consortium partners HISEZ, Firstport, Social Enterprise Academy, Forth Sector Development, Community Enterprise Ltd, CEMVO Scotland, Lanarkshire Enterprise Services, Ready for Business and Inspiralba.
In these days of austerity and widespread challenge it’s reassuring to know social enterprises are not alone. It’s a big ask to expect young or even established businesses to survive while the objective is to support communities and deliver services which are not-for-profit. Social entrepreneurs who follow their passion can’t always be expected to have the range and depth of skills which lead to business success, and even established models struggle to find the resource to fund key positions. That’s where Just Enterprise comes in.
The Just Enterprise consortium has been delivering business support, including start-up advice, and leadership and learning workshops to over 4,300 companies and individuals and this year introduces a new service to support business recovery for those facing difficulty.
This business lifeline is free and open to both new and previous applicants who meet the criteria. So, why not get in touch now.
